Why we vote: The leftist case for Biden/Harris
This article makes the case well. Those of us who are truly on the left and obviously find much in Biden less than enchanting should still vote for him. It is very important that we do so, and there is no reason to think his inadequacy in relationship to what we want is any reason to be less ardent in our support. There is in this no contradiction, only the need to understand clearly what the role is of elections in the larger field of political thought and action.

"A social movement that wants to reshape the world seeks out political terrain more conducive to change."
Political action, including voting, should not, as this author points out, be thought of as expressive. There is a place for expression of political views aiming to arrive at a maximal truth that may not be visible at the outset; that place is art. Art and the world of thought generally are driven by the need to interpret and make sense of our experience of the world. In political action people know what they want and are competing to get it in the face of adversaries whose needs and wants conflict with theirs.
Therefore, "Socialists should fight like hell to get Mr. Biden into office -- and then fight him like hell the day that he becomes president."
