Boycott Independence Day!

Boycott "Independence Day."

America is fighting a proxy war (with the Israelis sending in troops and, mostly, our high tech weapons). This war is murderous. There is nothing to celebrate about it.

If the United States is supposed to be about something else, do something about that, perhaps beginning by talking and thinking about it.

Since a symbol like a flag means whatever anyone associates with it, and the national media, of which our current government is an extension, defines what those meanings are, it should be avoided until some more positive set of meanings become clear.

Don't say it's about the Constitution or liberty or some values, traditions, or popular art and culture. Even if it is for you, who will believe that? If you are going to pretend to say anything, make clear what you mean. Otherwise you are being mentally lazy, which is cowardice. And if you think you are not saying anything, don't display any symbols either. They have meanings to many audiences. Most of them suck.
